New updates are added at the bottom of this story…
The original story (published June 14, 2021) follows:
Just in case you’re trying to figure out why Cox internet isn’t working or down, take comfort in the fact that you’re not the only one facing a problem with the service.
A quick look at the microblogging site – Twitter – shows that there are many others affected by the same problem.
According to user reports, they have not been able to access the internet properly as the speed is drastically reduced or the internet is not working at all.
For a quick overview, see how some of the complaints express the problem:

Downdetector — a popular service that provides live outage information — also relays that Cox internet is indeed experiencing an outage in regions like Phoenix and Tucson, as seen in the image below:

Any official word on the matter? Fortunately, Cox’s customer service on Twitter has responded to several reports of the issue by claiming that they are aware of it and working on a fix.
The outage is apparently due to a pole that caught fire in the Phoenix area, according to company support.
I’m sorry to hear that your service is affected. It looks like you are in the Phoenix area. We are aware of issues and are waiting for SRP to repair a fire-damaged pole affecting multiple providers. Once we are ready to work, we will do everything we can to restore service as soon as possible (Source)
